Saint Ronan's School Boys-U9A vs  U9 Sevenoaks School 5 a-side tournament
On: Friday, 20 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

The U9 A team went to the Sevenoaks 5 a side football tournament having not played any indoor football before. It is a very skillful game, both physically and mentally. We played 5 matches in our pool and first up was Radnor House, who we beat convincingly 6-0, with both Joshua L and Freddie F scoring a hat-trick of goals. We put the team under much pressure, securing good ball and having the majority of the possession. A good start! Our second match was against Russell House, which we won 3-0. Again, the boys played to the game plan, focusing on the box in defence and then 1-2-1 in attack. Our third match against Solefield was much tougher but the boys stuck to the game plan and won 2-0. This meant that our next match was for the overall victory. The challenge was to beat St Michael's, who were also unbeaten. Unfortunately, although we had much of the possession and got more shots on goal, we were too frantic and did not have the requisite composure in front of goal. Taking our time was key here and we were rushed. A 1-2 loss the result. Having secured the Silver medal already, we had nothing to lose and the team played their best football against Sevenoaks, passing the ball around and working on taking their time and being composed and confident. A brilliant display of football! Congratulations to all who played.
