Saint Ronan's School Boys-U13B vs  Ashdown House
On: Wednesday, 16 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

On a rain-swept Wednesday afternoon, a cry of ‘this is ridiculous!’ could be heard echoing off Tongswood. The Seconds' gallant goalkeeper, Matthew GR, had seen his team concede a fifth goal in just a few minutes. The Ashdown House Firsts were completely dominant, racing into an unassailable lead. Playing 8-a-side on the huge pitch, this game was perfect for their hard running, athletic boys, and their captain and striker was particularly effective at scoring goals. With four substitutes on the touchline, the Ashdown coach sensibly and kindly managed his team and this allowed the Saint Ronan’s boys back into the game. Louis WP was the pick of the Saint Ronan’s boys. He grew into game, running harder as the game opened up in the second half, and making some excellent passes forward. Wilby and Aston combined well at front and we were rewarded with goals, one of which was a stunning volley from a superb cross. Meanwhile, at the other end, Charlie F covered the space and Matthew made it increasingly difficult for the Ashdown attackers because he closed them down when one on one. The second half was a more even affair and it was excellent to see our boys persevering despite the initial onslaught. The final score was 11-7 to Ashdown House.
