Saint Ronan's School Boys-U13B vs  Holmewood House School
On: Wednesday, 09 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

Holmewood arrived with a strong and determined football team to take on our Seconds. They displayed excellent skill, both with their movement and their touches, and this could have been a 0-10 rout. However, we battled superbly in the first half. Matthew GR, our goalkeeper, played brilliantly and we were able to stay in the game with a half time score of 1-2. This was an excellent team effort! In the second half, however, after Holmewood had scored again, we made some silly errors and all too quickly the team lost confidence. As the game continued, the lack of endeavour became noticeable. This was disappointing, particularly after working so hard in the first half, and after Richie’s wonderful talk in Chapel about 'perseverance'. Instead of maintaining discipline and staying together through the testing times, we began to make excuses for our weak performance. A very aware and ruthless Holmewood team picked up on our mindset and strolled to a 7-2 victory. Hopefully the boys will learn from this experience and put in a fully-committed performance for the whole game next week.
