Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls-U13A vs  Dulwich Prep Cranbrook
On: Wednesday, 20 Nov 2019
Venue: Away

The A team started off their season with a tough match against a well-drilled DCPS team. Admittedly, they had a considerable height advantage on their side, but they also had speed and agility, which enabled them to move the ball with ease. We struggled to intercept as the ball was simply passed too high for us to reach. However, Charlotte P and Florence St both managed to make a dent in the DCSP attacking play. When in possession, we struggled to send the ball into space beyond the reach of the DCPS girls, who frequently converted possession to forge another attack. The DCPS goals flew in, whilst we missed some precious opportunities around the post. The score was 0-9 by half time. With a focus on what we could learn from this match, we made some key ‘aims’ for the second half – to hold our space before dodging for the ball, to mark tightly and to generally be more dynamic in our movement. This immediately had a positive impact on our play – we won our centre passes, held on to possession of the ball and were finally rewarded with a goal! Ultimately, we were out-played by a stronger and more physical team but we learned a huge amount to take forwards into the rest of our season. Player of the Match: Florence S
