Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls-U8 Sky vs  Marlborough House School
On: Thursday, 26 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

There was a healthy mix of nerves and excitement as the girls took to the MHS courts in their first match for SRS. We had the first centre pass and started well, moving the ball effectively up to the shooting circle. Unfortunately, we were not quite able to reach our shooters, with MHS making an excellent interception and immediately sending the ball back the other way. We struggled to adjust to changes in possession and must remember to stay glued to our partner when defending, in order to try to win the ball back. MHS eventually set the pace with a super goal. However, it wasn’t long before we were able to reply with one of our own (scored by Plum B). Possession was evenly-balanced, with the ball moving between both ends of the court in equal measure. Florence B was superb in her role as Centre and Annabelle A (WA) and Bo Larkin (WD) supported play beautifully on either side, dodging and moving effectively into space for the ball. Xanthe R and Rosanna A were able to make a couple of good interceptions in defence but the MHS shooters moved the ball quickly around the post and were able to pop in a few more goals. Plum B, Mac CD and Ines CdS tried hard to work the ball around our own goal to secure a good shooting position but were not able to find the hoop. Overall, a very encouraging first performance and lots to work on before our next match against Claremont. Player of the Match: Florence B
