Saint Ronan's School Boys-U10A vs  Marlborough House School

Venue: at Home

After losing the toss, we were put in to bat. Sargent Jacob and Major Felix opened the batting and it was clear to see that 'D' day was not going to phase these two, with a good opening partnership of 28. With Jacob back on the sidelines after a full ball hitting the stumps, it was Josh in the firing line. Nothing phased him, however, as he raced to 28 runs off 26 balls. With Felix bowled out also, and Josh retired, Eddie and Freddie came in to bat. The strength and depth of this squadron was clear to see; Freddie scoring runs all over the park, one of which was the shot of the day through the cover region. Eddie, following suit, played a great straight drive past the bowler for 4. Ethan, Oscar, Max and Levi all contributed to the overall 152 run score on the board.

With the boys fueled up, in from trenches of the dinning hall, it was our turn to field. The dark clouds looming overhead did not dampen the spirits of the boys and once again the start was magnificent in all areas. Jacob's first 2 overs went for 6 runs, with a superb wicket, hitting middle stump. He could have claimed another victim with his bullet like bowling after it hit the batsmen's foot in front of the stumps. No appeal though, which meant one life saved! The artillery fire came from both sides: Max M was superb with his 2 maidens for 1 wicket and Jack from MHS played a great knock, keeping the good balls out and dispatching the poor to the boundary. Unfortunately, Jack retired and once he was off the field, SRS had MHS surrounded from all the flanks.

A 52 run victory was a great result.

Target: to reduce the extras.
