Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U9A vs  Sevenoaks Preparatory School
On: Thursday, 23 May 2019
Venue: at Home

Saint Ronan's won by 159 runs.

An extraordinary day of cricket from the U9 boys. Not sure if it was the parents on the side line, the beautiful weather or just the amazing commitment by the boys? An combination of all those things, I'm sure. It was one of those days that everything went right for us.

We batted first and scored a whopping 357 runs. Will M and Theo P opened the pairs, with an impressive 34 runs off the bat, both playing the pull shot and cover drives to the boundary rope. The two Henrys came in next and unfortunately lost 2 wickets but we soon made up for it with numerous balls being hit to the fence. Oliver B scored his first 6, Raife a few boundaries, Mathew B and Max Y very strong down the leg side and then came Ollie H, who decimated the bowling attack by scoring 26 runs off just 10 balls. Yikes!!

If that wasn't a performance, then the second innings surely lit the scene for what was an incredible display of team work. Mathew B continued his strong bowling with a caught and bowled and 1 run for the first over, and thus the pressure was already on the opposition. The next wicket to go was a brilliant run out by Will M, with only one stump to aim at - down went the bails. The fielding didn't stop there: Theo P clutched one out the air, moving backwards and with one hand and Ollie B, after some mis-communication with a catching opportunity then ran out the opposition with a tremendous throw.

All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon of cricket. The boys conducted themselves well on the pitch and were very aware of what was happening.

Man of the Match for batting: Ollie H

Man of the Match for bowling: Max Y with a wicket maiden.

Man of the Match for fielding: Theo P with his one-handed grab.
