SR 140-6 DCPS 70 All out SR won by 70 runs

Man of the Match: Aston B.

We arrived at Sissinghurst CC with blue skies and the sun blazing. The ground was in perfect condition, with a fast outfield and a firm wicket and the ball coming on to the bat at a nice height.

Fortunately we were asked to bat first and the SRSbatsmans were into their stride quickly. Firstly Aston B was finding the boundary on a regular basis, cover driving and cutting the ball at will. He was well-supported by Victor VDB, who did not find the boundary but was keeping the score board ticking over with quick singles and the occasional 2 runs. After 10 overs, SRS were 69-3 wickets, with Arthur B joining Victor VDB at the crease. Arthur B wasted no time and the ball soon found its way to the boundary like a tracer bullet. The score had raced to 120, with three overs left, when these two were finally dismissed. Not to be denied, Archie W smacked 3 boundaries and was joined by Jamie P, who ran well between the wickets, turning 2 into 3 runs. SRS finally finished on 140-6 after their allotted 20 overs. DCPS needed to get off to a good start but our bowlers never allowed them to, bowling a good line and length. Their batsmans were never in the hunt and were bowled out for 70 in the thirteenth over. Max B, Barnaby D, Aston B and Marcus B all took 2 wickets each, and deservedly so, with Victor VDB ending up with the final wicket. It was nice to see the bowlers being backed up by the fielders, especially Jack B behind the stumps, who was very consistent on both sides of the wicket. Well done.
