Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U8 Sky vs  Claremont Preparatory School
On: Thursday, 06 Jun 2019
Venue: Away

Claremont chose to bat first and immediately put SRS under pressure by running quickly between the stumps at every opportunity. The first pair scored 20 runs. SRS's bowling has improved significantly since the last match but any no balls or wide deliveries resulted in Claremont taking a strike off the tee from which they scored a number of boundaries. SRS struggled to maintain concentration in the field and there were just a few too many fumbles and over throws with runs conceded. However Lilly S, Bella B and Jemima P, in particular, were alert in the field. Ellie S was our outstanding bowler, taking 2 wickets for just 5 runs. Claremont finished on 255. SRS openers, Lilly S and Minnie W, both struck the ball well (scoring 19 runs) but their indecision between the stumps lead to a couple of unfortunate run outs (minus 10 runs). Florence T and Jemima P drove the ball impressively over the boundary, off the bowling and off the tee, adding 17 and Ellie S and Bella B added 16, mainly off the tee. SRS needed 14 off the last two overs to win. Claremont's bowlers found a better line and length and, despite Tilly TY and Michaela M's best efforts to push for runs, Claremont finished two ahead, the umpire deciding on a tie. A lovely close competition. Well tried, girls. Players of the Match: Batting: Florence T; Fielding: Lilly S; Bowling: Ellie S.
