Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U9 Navy vs  Claremont Preparatory School
On: Thursday, 06 Jun 2019
Venue: Away

On Thursday 6th of June, the U9 Navy team went to play against Claremont. Due to Claremont only playing six girls, we split the team into two. The first group of girls to play were Amelia B, Mia B, Chloe C, Aurelia D, Aurelia P, Anna S and Jemima W. We lost the toss and Claremont chose to bowl first. Our girls batted well but unfortunately did not use every opportunity to make runs. At the end of the innings, we’d made 232 runs and lost 1 wicket. The bowling this week was of a much better standard than the weeks before. The girls bowled less wides and no balls and their form when bowling showed improvement. A special mention goes to Anna S and Aurelia D for their excellent bowling. Our fielding today was much better too. I was especially impressed with Jemima W's catch. Fantastic!! Unfortunately, at the end of Claremont’s innings, they’d scored 233 for 1. It couldn’t have been any closer! With just one run in it, the coaches agreed on a tie.

The second Navy team to play against Claremont was Coco CDG, Bracken F, Charlotte K, Alexa M, India P, Izzy R and Sienna U. We lost the toss and Claremont chose to bowl first again. Our girls tried their best but once again our run rate was very slow. At the end of our innings, we made 217 for 1. We showed improvement in our bowling but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to stop them from reaching and passing our score. At the end of their innings, they’d scored 231 for 2. A special mention goes to Coco and India for each taking a wicket. Well done to both our Navy teams for working together and for showing resilience.
