Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U9 Sky vs  Skippers Hill Manor Preparatory School
On: Thursday, 23 May 2019
Venue: at Home

The girls thoroughly enjoyed their match against the Skippers Hill girls. We have finally got to grips with bowling and as a result were able to deliver some pretty accurate balls. We won the toss and put SH in to bat first. Daisy A opened the batting, taking a wicket on her first ball! Steady and consistent bowling followed from all the girls, giving away only a few wide or no balls. This meant that SH had to work hard to make runs off the bat. In the outfield we rounded up any ground balls effectively and sent them quickly back to the stumps. Freya B took a great catch on the boundary and came close to hitting the wickets on a couple of occasions. SH scored 245 runs, so the target was set to chase. Alice M and Daisy A batted first and got us off to a steady start by scoring 10 runs. Bea D and Izzy A took over (Izzy scoring the first 4 of the match), adding a further 17 runs to the total. Michelle VDB and Freya B were our most successful batting pair, scoring 23 runs. Both hit a series of 4s and Freya was inches off a 6. We now held a healthy score of 250 runs. Having overtaken the SH score, Athena M and Molly Z were able to enjoy a comfortable innings and just had to make sure they didn’t lose any wickets. Molly Z demonstrated a great eye for the ball, hitting big and scoring the only 6 of the match. As SH had 10 players, Michelle and Bea came back in at the end to bat again. We finished comfortably on 279. A great performance, girls. Well done. Players of the Match: batting - Moly Z, fieldling - Freya B.
