Match Report
Saint Ronan's School U9 Navy vs  Sacred Heart School Wadhurst
On: Thursday, 13 Jun 2019
Venue: Away

The girls really enjoyed their first rounders match away at Bricklehurst on Thursday. With a break in the week's rather wet and unpleasant weather, we even glimpsed a sight of the sun in patches. The girls hadn’t had any practice, due to the rain scuppering plans earlier in the week, so did incredibly well to pull off a win. We fielded first, with Izzy L performing consistently as bowler and Mischa W working hard as back-stop. There wasn’t a great deal of hitting off the bat and most points were scored from no balls. However, occasionally Bricklehurst did make good contact and sent the ball into the deep to score a rounder. We must always make sure we are alert and ready to act on these occasions. Bricklehurst set a target of 6 for us to chase, and chase it we did - running really confidently between the posts. Fielding skills are a work in progress at this age so we were able to exploit many opportunities to score half and whole rounders. With 3 balls to go, we managed to score the rounder we needed to clinch victory. A lovely game girls, well done. Player of the Match: Izzy L
