Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls-U12A vs  Holmewood House School
On: Wednesday, 22 May 2019
Venue: Away

After just one rounders training session, the U12A faced HH away on Wednesday. Exercising both mental and physical 'muscle memory' for the game, the girls put in an excellent performance enhanced by great team spirit. SRS lost the toss and were put in to bat by HH. Facing 30 good balls, the girls managed a steady scoring rate, taking advantage of the useful half rounders to be had by reaching 2nd post having struck the ball. Whole rounders came from Matilda F, Bea W, Charlotte Pa and Sophie M in the first innings. HH took some splendid catches in the deep to dismiss some of our other 'big hitters'. We ended the first innings on 8.5. Our bowlers found it a little difficult to find their rhythm and a number of half rounders were conceded. However, our fielding was fairly sharp between the posts and Charlotte Pa took a spectacular catch on the run in the deep. SRS restricted HH to 7.5 in the first innings. Returning to bat, we were a little lack lustre and nothing was scored off the first 13 balls. Thankfully, Freya G broke the spell with a half rounder and then the rounders flowed - coming off the bat of Bea W (2), Freya G, Lettice A and Eleanor S. Lotty C and Matilda F shared the bowling in the second innings - each with different styles, which proved a challenge to HH. Catches were made by Matilda F (2), Freya G (2) and Charlotte Pa. Freya, at BS, threw accurately to Floss S on first post, dismissing HH girls who missed the ball and there were further stumpings at second by Eleanor S. SRS dismissed the whole HH side with 5 balls remaining. Justifiably exuberant, three cheers from SRS followed the match. Well done girls! Player of the Match: Bea W (top scorer), Freya G (fielding)
