Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U10A vs  EGHA Tournament - The Triangle, Burgess Hill
On: Wednesday, 06 Mar 2019
Venue: Away

Played 6, won 4, drew 2.

After coming second place last year to MHS, we were determined to do better. However we couldn't be complacent! The boys were fired up from the start and without our main striker (Josh E), we knew it wouldn't be easy. Our first match was against Hurst, who play hockey religiously. We went 0-1 down after a few minutes but Freddie S had other plans and when he got the ball at the top of the 'D', two thunderbolt shots gave us a 2-1 win. Our second match against Dane Hill was outstanding, with the ball moving to all parts of the pitch and goals being slotted in at the far post. Levi R scored 2 and Freddie 1. A good team performance and a 3-0 win. We dropped our heads and shape a little when we played Great Walstead and were lucky to get a 0-0 draw. Ethan H was outstanding in goal and continues to 'grow' as a keeper! Further wins came against Bede's and Rose Hill and another 0-0 draw with Holmewood House meant that we ended up on 24 points after our 6 matches (5pts=win, 3pts=score draw, 2pts=0-0 draw and 1pt for losing less than 1 goal). After not losing a single game, the boys were confident that we would win. However, Danes Hill, who we'd convincingly beaten earlier on had not lost a game since then. They were on 20 points and, with one game to go against Hurst, Danes Hill went 1-0 up, with 3 minutes to go. All the boys cheered Hurst on to score. One minute to go.....Hurst were given a short corner. In the last play of the game, and just before the hooter went, Hurst squeezed the ball past the goalie to secure a 1-1 draw. This meant that Danes Hill finished on 23 points and one behind us. An amazing finish to a brilliant day out. A well-organised event, which the boys thoroughly enjoyed. Oscar D was so happy that he kept his medal on him for the rest of the week. Eddie B provided pressure and strength up front; Jacob J was solid at the back, showing good skill and awareness; Oscar B slotted nicely into right back and linked well with Jacob and Freddie S; Max controlled the midfield well, with great skill, supplying his striker with great through balls. Well done, everyone, for a great team performance!
