Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U13A vs  IAPS Tournament
On: Thursday, 28 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

A clash with exams meant that we had to take a team of U12 boys to the IAPS hockey tournament at Trinity School. This was a great experience for them and Scott and I were delighted with the way they played. Victories were hard to come by but they did manage to play some very good hockey and were, more often than not, undone by a single bit of skill when one of the bigger, stronger boys was able to drive into the D and shoot. Our Man of the Tournament was Aston B in goal, who acquitted himself really well throughout the day, making some great saves, especially by coming out quickly to challenge attacking players. Our second Man of the Tournament was Kit R, who used his pace and anticipation to continually intercept or tackle before launching an attack. Jaxson M defended very well and Archie M and Henry P worked hard in midfield to mark before quickly getting into attacking mode when required. Barnaby D, at right midfield, showed good stick skills and awareness in linking with Kit and, up front, Hector P worked tirelessly to close down the ball and give us a forward option once he had possession. Let’s hope the boys can play in a similar manner in the inter-school matches this week. Men of the Tournament: Aston B and Kit R
