Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U13D vs  Vinehall School
On: Wednesday, 27 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

Three senior hockey teams travelled to Vinehall to play hockey on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon in February. The hockey was as hot as the weather! The short pitches meant the games were end-to-end, with lots of scoring opportunities. In the first game Jamie P was dominant, taking the ball forward and making some great passes forward to Max R, who found space effectively. The score in this game was 4-2 to Vinehall, with just two minutes to play. Taking more direct options, the Saint Ronan's team scored two in two minutes, to make the final result an exciting 4-4. Matthew H contributed very well. On the other pitch, the game was less pacey. We could improve our control and sending of the ball, and our sharpness of thought and action. Arthur G dribbled well and Max B scored a cracking goal. In the final game, Gethan T ran strongly and passed the ball crisply to his teammates, and Joe T and Willem C were again busy in goal, making many wonderful saves. These boys were having so much fun, and were so engrossed in the game, that we weren’t even sure of the score at the end. For those to whom the outcome is important, it must be said that Vinehall were clear winners. However, in terms of the more important aspects - enjoyment, sportsmanship and learning - Saint Ronan’s were superb.
