Match Report
Saint Ronan's School 1st XI vs  Claremont Preparatory School
On: Wednesday, 17 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

We were very fortunate to have organized a last minute fixture against Claremont and MHS. With the Grandparent’s Tea at school, it meant that we were a few players short. However the very capable Kit R, Jack B and Arthur VB were pleased when they got the transfer contract to play for the 1sts. Our first match, against Claremont, was a good battle and a 0-3 loss was not a true reflection of how we played. At times our movement with the ball looked promising, especially down the right hand side, between Mathis and Victor, but we could not get the final ball across goal. We struggled more in defence without Arthur E and Theo B.

MHS had won their game 2-0 to Claremont so we knew it would be tough match. However, we looked like a different team. Our formation had changed to a 4-4-2 and, at the end of the first half, a 0-0 score-line looked very promising. In the second half, we created more opportunities, with Will H providing a good cross for Kit, who could not quite get his shot away. At the other end, MHS scored a wonderful goal, crossed in and headed in rear post. A second goal to MHS shortly afterwards was scored by taking the ball around Henry C and then squeezing the ball between keeper and post. All in all, a good afternoon of football which was enjoyed by all and a good challenge for the boys.
