Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U8 Navy vs  Marlborough House School
On: Thursday, 07 Feb 2019
Venue: Away

The Navy squad of nine put in a feisty performance against MHS on Thursday. Individual skills have improved enormously over the season and the girls were able to demonstrate some of these during the match: blocking the opposition's ball with conviction, looking to pass to team mates when in possession, pressing the opposition's free hit and looking to hold space on the pitch (Freya LH, Ellie S and Micaela M created space particularly well). MHS defended well early on but SRS continuously put MHS under pressure and, once we'd got a player ahead of the ball in the D, the goals started to flow. With a rolling sub, the girls were able to rotate positions and goals were scored by many of the squad: Micaela M, Ellie S, Jemima G (x2), Florence T and Fleur K - well done. Annabel W, Julia P and Kiana T worked hard in support in mid-field. Although there was considerable bunching around the ball and too much play down the middle (all of which is to be expected at this age), no one can deny that these girls were enthusiastic and determined to score goals. A super base to work from and a great team effort! Players of the Match: Jemima G and Micaela M.
