On: Saturday, 24 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

1st Round - won 20-15 v Cumnor House

Tournament rugby is very exciting and this match provided the afternoon with a perfect start. We quickly went 0-2 down, with the home side producing some slick handling to score in the corners. We didn't panic and, once we had relaxed with the ball in hand, we were able to produce some good attacking play of our own. A bit more direct but with good support we were quickly able to level the score. Another try a-piece set up a frantic final few seconds where we were able to score the winner which got us off to a good start. Man of the Match: Jamie P

2nd round - won 20-0 v Worth

In this match we played with a lot more width, moving the ball well to attack the space on the outside. Some impressive feet from Jamie P and Archie W enabled us to take advantage of space in the opposing defence and run in a few good team tries. Men of the Match: Marcus H and Will D

3rd Round - drew 10-10 -Christ's Hospital

This was a very tough match against a big, strong side who ran straight and hard. We tackled well but unfortunately bumped off a few, allowing them to cross the try line. When we had the ball we tried hard to move it wide and were rewarded with two well-worked scores which allowed us to level the match. Men of the Match: the forwards - Archie T, Humphrey B, Arthur B

4th Round - won 15-0 v Davenies

After the brusing encounter against Christ Hospital, we played a team that we had to chase around the pitch! They moved the ball very well but we also defended very well and, when the turn over was won, we quickly countered. With their defence split, we were able to exploit the space and score. Men of the Match: Arthur E, Archie W

5th Round - drew 10-10 v MHS

After a break we were a little slow getting going and MHS took full advantage and scored two very well-taken tries. Having already battled back from a two try deficit, we did not panic and, after a good spell of possession, we managed to score. Unfortunately for MHS, their talisman had to hobble off injured and this time we took advantage and, in the last play, managed to get the score required to take us through to the final. Man of the Match - Matthis S

Final - lost 10-15 v Christ's Hospital

In this match we got off to a flying start, quickly scoring two unanswered tries. At this point we were having to make tackle after tackle as they pounded our try line. Despite some heroic tackles, Christ's Hospital kept possession of the ball really well and, in the final play of the day, they scored the winning try. Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament for Saint Ronan's: Jack B
