Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U10A vs  Claremont Preparatory School
On: Wednesday, 10 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

Another wonderful afternoon of hockey in glorious sunshine! We played across the width of the Claremont astro, which limited the depth but meant that making use of the wings and spreading the play wide was crucial. On a high from our tournament success at the weekend, the girls started strong. We dominated in attack and our presence was felt in the D for most of the first half. Hebe L and Clara S worked well up front and Libby H and Florence F supported well from the wings, crossing the ball in to the D. Sidney W and Henrietta G were poised in defence, swiftly mopping up any Claremont attacks that entered their half. With a 3-0 lead at half time, we rotated a couple of positions for the second half to test our versatility. Henrietta G and Sidney W found themselves up front and Clara S and Libby H in defence. This opened up the game a little for Claremont, while we got to grips with our new roles, and gave Lois T (GK - who was mostly redundant in the first half) a taste of the action. Claremont was able to penetrate our D on a couple of occasions and, after some perseverance from both sides, managed to sneak the ball into the goal. We gradually regained our shape and form on the pitch to add one more to our total. Final score 4-1 to SRS. Another satisfying game and a reassuring exercise for the girls regarding our normal positional play. Well done. Player of the Match: The team!
