Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls 1st VII vs  Claremont Preparatory School
On: Wednesday, 10 Oct 2018
Venue: at Home

A pretty even game, as the score-line suggests, with defences on top for most of the match. We were thrown just before the start by a nasty-looking head injury to Emily H, thanks to some robust penalty corner practice. The girls played the first half a little shaken by the sight of blood and concerned for their teammate and our normal intensity from free hits and marking at the back were noticeably absent. Ruby B, in midfield, got us going with some feisty tackling and ball carrying and, as the game progressed, we had plenty of pressure in the Claremont circle but fired too often straight at their keeper. As a result, a number of chances went begging. The opposition defenders were strong in the tackle and created one or two chances of their own, which Charlotte P in goal dealt with comfortably. As ever, a great physical effort from everyone on yet another hot day. Thankfully, Emily was patched up by the brilliant SRS medical staff and was able to return to watch the end of the game.
