Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls U10A vs  Vinehall School
On: Wednesday, 19 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

The girls had a demanding game against VH this week. Both teams worked hard to gain possession of the ball but struggled to connect passes effectively to maintain possession. We also found it hard to adapt to the space now available on a larger pitch. Much of the game was played down the middle channel, failing to utilize the space on the wings effectively when trying to clear the ball out of defence, or when passing up the pitch. We found ourselves with a couple of good shooting opportunities in the D but lacked the desire to finish and put the ball in the back of the net. At the end of the first half, the score remained 0-0. In the second half, VH had a lucky break when we left our goal totally exposed and they punished us with a goal. We fought back hard but our fitness and ability to switch from attacking to defensive play quickly enough meant that we were not quite able to chase, or get ahead of the ball, when necessary. We need to improve our positional play and work more effectively together as a team so as to be more effective when creating attacking play and also when getting back to defend. Special mention to Henrietta G, who was fantastic in defence and read the game superbly throughout. Flora H also made a super save towards the end of the match. Well done.
