Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls-U9 Sky vs  Holmewood House School
On: Thursday, 18 Oct 2018
Venue: Away

The U9s traveled to HH for a super afternoon and a very close game of netball. HH is always a tough fixture and I'm pleased to say that the Sky team played their best netball yet - very encouraging - well done girls. Having arrived in good time for a productive warm up, the girls were switched on right from the start. The game was competitive and fast, with possession fairly even throughout. SRS scored first and we ended the first quarter at 1-1. The second quarter was again very competitive, with the ball travelling up and down the court, with some great mid-court play from Athena M and Mischa W in particular. Our shooters, Alice M and Izzy A, worked well together in and around the D. Michelle VDB worked relentlessly at GD, to great effect against a very tall GA. HH scored seconds before the half time whistle, inching them ahead 3-2. At half time, both HH and SRS swapped the girls' positions around to develop their versatility. The girls adapted well, with Mischa W coordinating play from C, Freya B helping to clear the ball at WD, Athena M supporting the attack around the D at WA and Izzy A delighted to be let loose into the GA position. HH had a few more shooting opportunities than us but Molly Z and Michelle VDB cleared from the back line in text book fashion. HH were ahead 5-4 at the end of Q3. Q4 tested the girls' fitness and commitment. Alice M popped her fifth goal in and the scores were even - exciting for all. But HH scored again to make it 6-5 and unfortunately, despite tremendous efforts, we were unable to give our shooters another opportunity. A great match - the girls should be very proud of their performance against a strong HH side. Players of the Match: Alice M and Athena M
