Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U12B vs  Vinehall School
On: Wednesday, 11 Dec 2019
Venue: Away

On a wet, windy, cold Wednesday the U12B team travelled to Vinehall for our first rugby fixture. Unfortunately, Vinehall only had 9 boys in Year 7, to play what is meant to be a 12 a-side game, so William and Elliott very sportingly offered to help them make up a team. As the game started, the rain lashed down, creating hugely challenging conditions. Nevertheless the Saint Ronan’s boys stuck to a passing game, and although there were plenty of times we lost control of the slippery ball, there were also some magical team tries. Tristan scored twice and Cameron and Orlando also did. Vinehall played more direct and, with their strong runners often running the length of the field, they scored more tries, albeit with fewer players involved. We need to keep working on our tackling, as this let us down. Building tackling technique and experience will improve tackling confidence. This was a tough afternoon; well done to the boys who acquitted themselves very well in their first match and thank you to the parents who braved the horrible conditions to support the team.
