Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Boys-U13A vs  Solefield School
On: Wednesday, 11 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

With three evenly-matched 1st teams out to play Solefield, Bethany and Beechwood, it was going to be a challenging afternoon of football. Solefield were a strong team, who had just come back from touring Italy, whereas our boys had just had one training session. It was a scrappy start, with both teams losing possession early and giving away quick ball. Solefield did not allow our boys any time on the ball and their high press meant that quick counter-attack was key. Against the run of play, we gained possession on the half way line and Kit and Arthur linked well to score the first goal, lobbing the goal keeper. This only served to give Solefield more determination to score and they did so with a well worked goal, showing great skill from their captain. Going forwards we were looking good with Kit's pace causing havoc with their defence. All his hard work paid off, sending us back in front with a one-on-one with the keeper. Going into the last 3rd of the game, and 2-1 ahead, Jack E unfortunately fell on his wrist and was out for the rest of the match. The team worked hard in defence, with Alex organising the pack well. The hero of the day, however, was our captain Barnaby, who was kept us in the match with some unbelievable saves. Jordan Pickford would have been very proud!!

A great start to the season.
