Saint Ronan's School Girls U10C vs  U10C Tournament
On: Wednesday, 02 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

The U10Cs traveled to DCPS to compete in the Coursehorn Cup on Wednesday. Five schools competed in this round-robin competition, providing nearly 40 minutes of competitive match play for each girl during the afternoon. The girls had to focus and react quickly, getting on-side and organised for the start of each game as there was only one minute between each match - good training for future tournaments! The afternoon started well, with a draw against Derwent Lodge. We were then unlucky to go down 0-1 to DCPS. The girls played their best hockey against HH, showing much-improved use of space, with Alexa M and Oriel M keeping wide and Bracken F at CF, ahead of the ball. Rose L worked hard at CM and Sienna U, at RB, reliably cleared the ball. The girls ran hard in this game of end-to-end hockey where both teams displayed some stronger passes and the results was that we held HH to a 0-0 draw. We faced tournament winners SVPS in our last game. SVPS dominated the game, and our defence and GK were under considerable pressure throughout. Aurelia D had made some lovely saves and clearances earlier in the afternoon, and she continued to do so in this match, but SVPS were tenacious and determined in attack and it was impossible to keep them all out! We ended the afternoon with a 0-3 loss but the girls had had a valuable afternoon overall and really enjoyed the tea afterwards, where they enthusiastically clapped the SRS U11 team who came 2nd in their competition. Special thanks to Esther C, Bea D, Lara L and Bella G from the U11s who played one game each for the U10s, as we were one team member short at the last minute.
