U12A v DCPS Won: 292-192

For the final fixture of the season the girls went to DCPS, lost the toss and were put in to bat. But, from that moment on, the afternoon belonged to Saint Ronan's. The girls batted extremely well - hitting out effectively and running swiftly between the stumps. Bea W and Lettice A were our highest scoring pair (26) with Eleanor S and Floss S close behind on 21. Between the team 3 sixes and 5 boundaries were hit. Mathilda F and Charlotte Pa faced the most inconsistent of the DCPS bowling which limited their scoring opportunities. DCPS gave away 30 runs through no balls/wides and took just one wicket: Freya G was unlucky and followed through on to her own wicket as she hit the ball for 4. We ended on 292. Floss S opened the bowling and set an excellent standard. The girls' bowling has shown significant improvement this term and we gave away just 16 runs through no balls/wides. In the field the girls were on fire and put on a marvellous display: moving to the ball and returning it to the stumps accurately, taking catches on the move, attempting extreme catches and backing each other up - both physically and verbally. In total 10 wickets were taken with catches from Lettice A, Freya G, Charlotte Pr, Floss S, Florence S and Bea W (including a caught and bowled) and additional quick stumpings following DCPS batter indecision. Two wickets came off each over of Floss S and Bea W, with single wicket overs from Eleanor S, Charlotte Pa, Mathilda F, Freya G, Charlotte Pr and Lettice A. An outstanding team performance deserving a team award - well done girls - one very proud coach!
