Saint Ronan's School Boys-U11A vs  EGHA Tournament - The Triangle, Burgess Hill
On: Wednesday, 13 Mar 2019
Venue: Away

The Colts hockey side took part in a UKSA tournament at Burgess Hill. It was a typical 'four seasons in a day' kind of day, ranging from sunshine, rain and even sleet along with the ever-present wind! Our hockey rather reflected the weather and we too struggled for consistency. A few enforced changes to the team certainly disrupted the pattern of our attacking shape and the quality of the opposition combined to make for a challenging day. A narrow 0-1 loss to both Handcross Park and Ardingly put us on the back foot but a Ned T goal from a short corner seemed to have us back on track against Danes Hill. However a lack of composure in our defence allowed them to score two quick goals for the win. Our final game against Holmewood House was a tough match. Both teams were looking for their first win in the pool and were desperate to end on a good note. Bruno H found himself up front and scored the winning goal after Ed M and Ned T had worked hard to create the chance. So we ended with a win and, while the day had not turned out exactly as we would have hoped, experience was gained and many valuable lessons were learned.
