Saint Ronan's School Girls-U13A vs  U13 Kent Tournament v MHS
On: Wednesday, 13 Mar 2019
Venue: Away

What a wonderful afternoon of lacrosse the girls had at Benenden on Wednesday! The U13A team, consisting of a squad of 14, played 4 matches in the Kent 'round robin' contest with teams from Benenden (A & B), MHS (A) and DCPS (A). With only a 5 minute break between each 15 minute match, it was an intense afternoon which tested the girls' skills, fitness and their physical and mental stamina. The squad put in a tremendous performance and finished 3rd. Throughout the afternoon the girls strove to maximise their attacking opportunities, fought to gain possession of loose or ground balls and defended doggedly - I was so proud of everyone's performance. The afternoon started well with an exciting win against Benenden B (4-2) with captain, Georgie A, scoring our first goal following a long run almost the whole length of the pitch! Further great goals came from Bella K, Jemima S and Martha R. The Benenden As proved to be tougher opposition and we lost 0-3. It wasn't a one-sided game, however, and we were particularly unlucky not to score in the second half. There was some spirited and tenacious defence play from Ruby B, Jemima S, Emily H and Evie S, in particular, and Evie Sh (GK) made important saves when under pressure. MHS was our third opponent and, with tiring legs, the girls tried to let the ball do the work as they executed some super long passes up and down the field. The game finished with a nice win to us (3-0) and goals from Bella K, Jemima S and Freya G. Our nail-biting game of the afternoon was against DCPS. Hotly-contested, the game remained a no score draw until the final minute, when DCPS managed to hurl just one into the net - so close! Congratulations, girls - outstanding effort and play throughout.
