Match Report
Saint Ronan's School Girls-U13A vs  Sutton Valence School
On: Wednesday, 16 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

The first game of the new year was a wet and cold affair and the girls did tremendously well in the conditions to execute and maintain their ball-handling skills. We got off to a slightly nervous and shaky start, missing a few early goal-scoring opportunities, but manage to claw a lead of 3 goals to 2 at the end of the first quarter. As the match pressed, the girls found their rhythm and started to employ the strategies we have been working on in training with confidence. Martha was superb as C, reliable in every respect and coordinating play through the centre of the court effectively. Jemima S (WA) and Hope R (WD) were ready to support her on both sides, Hope making some excellent interceptions to convert possession and Jemima driving effortlessly into attack to feed the ball into our shooters. Emily H, Georgie A and Bella K rotated as shooters and coordinated well to score some great goals, really flying in the final two quarters of the game to stretch the lead by 6 goals. At the other end, Ruby B and Evie S worked tirelessly to make life difficult for the SVS shooters, limiting their scoring opportunities with some tight marking and well-timed interceptions. A very pleasing team performance in challenging conditions. Well done, girls. Players of the Match: Georgie A and Martha R
